End of summer party at the pool

Our neighborhood did an end of summer party today. Hot dogs, pizza, cotton candy (mom and dad kept me away from this stuff), and games. Well we went to support the local pool. The highlight though was that after all summer of not being allowed in the sand pit due to mommy’s phobia of babies, water, and sand, I was allowed to jump right in. Then, I would not leave…

  • Big Boy Bed!!!

Well, the time has arrived.  I’m officially TOO big for the baby crib.  So mommy and daddy got me a big boy bed all my own. We all know how mommy doesn’t like to spend money on kid stuff so luckily Uncle Henry & Aunt Nancy had an extra bed that they didn’t need anymore.  Mommy decided to leave my old blankets on it for now bc I really like those.  Mommy & Daddy decided to put the baby gate up though so I wouldn’t be able to escape.

My first night went ok. I woke up at 6am though and yelled for Mommy. She decided to make me wait until 7:30am though so I just played in my room and read a book.  The next morning, I already knew the drill so I just waited patiently for mommy to come and get me at 8:30am.  I have so much freedom.

  • Apple Picking 2010

So fall has finally arrived.  Ok…that’s an exaggeration b/c it’s only September 3rd.  But the weather was awesome, super cool and sunny, so we decided to go Apple picking.  Grandaddy used to take mommy & auntie jj to this place when they were younger so we all decided to take a walk down memory lane together.  It was me, mommy, daddy, unka Nik, auntie jj and sam.  We got 2 different kinds of apples-jonathan and mcintosh.  we even got to see the pumpkins that they were growing for halloween.  Mommy said we could go back and get pumpkins when they are ready.

After we picked the apples, we went to the restaurant and ate really good food.  Then we played around and finally went home.  It was a long day but we had a lot of fun.

  • Budding photographer

I have found a camera. I am obsessed. I also hid the camera so mom and dad can’t find the pictures I took at the moment but they are actively trying. Once they do, we will post a follow-up post to show off my photo gallery. For now, this is me running around taking a zillion photos.

  • Crabs 2010

Following the state fair we got a big box of crabs. Aunt Liz got some clams too. In all, we got WAY too much food. It was gooooood though. The crew spent about an hour picking the extra crabs so that we can make crab cakes and omelets the next day. Seriously we had like 4 lbs of crab meat left over. We made a fire in the back yard as it was a bit chilly too. Too bad that even the nag champa incense rocking, the citronella candles rolling, the anti-mosquito pesticide rocking, everyone still got bitten up. Lovely.

Also, I found the sprinkler quite enjoyable as crabs got boring 10 minutes after we started. As fun as the crab hammers were, the sprinkler was better.

  • State Fair 2010

So aunts Liz and Jen came down to say howdy and we had to pack their day full on. So prior to crab fest we hooked them up with a little state fair action. Dad got a jumbo turkey leg (looked like something out of the Flintstones). I got to watch a baby cow get fed and we even pet an alpaca. Short trip but with my attention span, this worked out perfectly.

  • Day of Tools

So in anticipation of folks coming over for crabs we got motivated to hook up a few odds and ends around the house. It started with dad taking me to Home Depot AND Lowes. We went for a water filter and ended up spending a large portion of the day running up and down the aisles. I found the plumbing department particularly fun.

From there it was home to install things, fix things, clean things, etc. Safety is key so dad showed me my own pair of safety goggles. I even got my own tool bag today. To be technical it was the moving guy’s bag but he left it here so finders keepers I say.

Then mom was hooking up the laundry so I helped out there too. Busy day for me. Took a gooood nap.

  • Music fan in the making

Great uncle Mickey, Lisa, and crew had a summer bbq party. A great time all around but for my money, the highlight was Lisa’s kid’s band. Seriously these two kids were killing it on stage. They wrote all of their songs and I was rocking out. You have to hear these kids. I was the only one in the mosh pit so it was pretty tame but hey.
