  • Ocean City 2009

Well my maiden voyage to the Maryland shore. It was fun let me tell you. Found out I love to eat sand. Yes, eat it. Not taste it, lick it, smell it, no, eat, handfulls of it actually. (to the horror of all those watching actually). Cousin Sam and I had a blast. That wave thing was fantastic. Of course got sand EVERYWHERE. Dad went on a few long bike rides, took uncle Nik with him. Mom and aunt Jenny took advantage of beach time while dad watched me in the AM and we all had dinner at night together. Great time actually. This trip somewhat galvanized mom and dad’s notion that me and water are long to be life long friends. Needless to say there are a TON of pictures. Here are few of the highlights…

  • Mastering the art of the straw

Mastering the art of the straw

Mom and dad, since my birth, have realized that knowing how to do something and teaching it to a new person are quite different indeed. Dad and mom both have been struggling to get the straw thing into my small (yet growing larger every minute) head. Dad finally devised a new plan which, suddenly, seemed to work. Finger over the straw, fill 1/2 way, drop into my mouth, then frantically push straw into glass and continue siphon. Voila! Using a straw. We have liftoff! Upon discovery mom and dad now relish the though of juice boxes and self-sufficient glass drinking. Here’s to the future of automated drinking.

  • Fourth of July 2009

The fourth was a blast. Although not technically my first, it was the first one we could actually do much on. We hung with the cousins/aunt/uncle crowd up in their neck of the wood. Tried to go to a carnival but aunt Jenny does not call ahead and check the times, sooo… no carnival.

We went home for a BBQ and to light off some pyrotechnics. Then back to see the carnival but saw a parade instead. Then ice cream. Yum, ice cream. Then home. Fun time playing around with the fam. Not a huge fan of the 1000 firecracker brick dad and uncle Nik lit off but aside from that, a fun day. Here are some photos of the highlights and some video of the pyrotechnics portion of our day.

  • Pics sent from Granddaddy Shelley

Granddaddy loves his Nikon. While dad is more of a Canon kind of guy they can both agree that photography is a whole lot of fun. Here are some of the shots he sent just after their trip.

  • Even at a Phish show, mom and dad have me on the brain

Even at a Phish show, mom and dad have me on the brain

So dad was a huge Phish fan back in the day and still is. When they got the band back together and went out on tour again, naturally dad was on board. Lucky for his so was mom’s close friend Dori. (Dori and dad get along quite well in this regard). So, dad dragged mom and Dori dragged her hubby Dan along and they all saw the band. While they said they had a good time the fun part was a picture they both took separately of each other. So even though I was not there, I kinda was. Dad is still trying to get me to a show by the by. Mom is not really having it. This happened June 7 but I just found the pic and forgot about it. Just FYI.

  • Biking the BWI Trail

Today was dad’s birthday so we kept things pretty calm. Mom and dad packed up the backpacks and bikes and we hit this cool trail around the BWI Airport on the bikes. I really hate the helmet and a great deal of time was spent re-re-re-adjusting this thing on my head but aside from that it was a good day. The trail is essentially a circle. However there are two opportunities to veer from the path. Mom and dad found both. The original trail was to be about 12.2 miles. All said and done we turned it in to 16! I sort of lost it around 14 or so. Mom then lost it around 15 or so. Once again, dad kept a cool head. That’s exactly what happened. I swear.
